Tablet Weaving

Tablet weaving is an ancient craft that uses tablets or cards to weave intricate bands or straps. The tablets are turned to move different threads up and down and create beautiful patterns. The craft dates back to the Iron Age, with some stunning examples found in Austria showing amazing skill.
I use this technique to weave bands that are made into jewellery, straps, belts and edging for garments. Tablet weaving is now particularly associated with the Viking era and I've used various pieces in my Viking outfits.
